For nearly five decades since founding in 1977, The Granite House has proudly stood as Fort William's longest serving family-owned independent gift shop. Started by our grandpa Jimmy as a cafe with a small gift shop known affectionately to locals as J&K Ness's, our shop has come a long way over the years. In the 1980s our dad Alistair rebranded the shop as The Granite House, creating the shop that is so well known today. In the 1990s Alistair extended the property and expanded the range of items available transforming the shop into a large department store. We hope to continue this legacy for many years to come with our inherited passion for retail and great customer service.

Stepping through our doors offers a truly charming and personal shopping experience nestled in the heart of the Highlands. Our thoughtfully curated and diverse collection of treasures, from unique gifts and Highland souvenirs to beautiful jewellery, delightful homewares and toys aims to appeal to locals and visitors alike.
